Shades of Cloaking (Not a post about fashion)

Rand Fishkin of SEOmoz.org wrote a very interesting post about White hat to black hat cloaking going through all the shades in between light grey, dark grey, almost black. I am not going to describe exaclty what was written, since the interesting thing here is the reaction that he received from Matt Cutts. For Matt Cutts, all cloaking is bad in Google’s eyes, to which Rand diplomatically agreed, stating however that if there was a good reason to do some cloaking in some situations it may be acceptable. Matt disagreed and said that without a shadow of a doubt cloaking was “high risk behavior” and that if Google found any cloaking for whatever reason, that site would be penalized.

I found the comments here very interesting. It’s important to understand what your goal is and how you want to act. I suggest that if you are not sure, you should stick to white hat. Cloaking post
